The sessions will be held virtually on Zoom. After each session, you will receive a link to access the recording.

In this course, you’ll learn a creative approach to icon painting. You’ll work on an icon of Angel With Golden Hair. You can choose to inscribe your icon or leave it open-ended, making it truly personalized.

Throughout the course, you’ll learn egg tempera and the Russian method, which involves delicately layering paint to achieve delicate tones and shading. You’ll master the interplay of light to sculpt shapes, refine your color mixing skills, and develop an eye for selecting the perfect color palette. Explore texture and color experimentation to discover your unique artistic style. Alternatively, follow your teacher Basia’s brush strokes and don’t worry about the rest.
As an intermediate student, you’ll deepen your understanding of facial and hand structures while embarking on a spiritual journey. This will foster a profound connection with your craft. Basia Mindewicz will guide you through each step of the creation process, offering insights into her artistic process and inspiring exercises for independent practice. Basia will be painting the icon on a camera, so you’ll be able to see every step and rewatch it later in the recording you’ll have access to during the course.

To join this course, you should have some painting experience, preferably having painted at least one icon. It would be beneficial if you were also interested in delving deeper into iconography and enhancing your skills. This course is designed to assist you in developing and exploring a more creative approach to icon painting.
