Guided by the talented Basia Mindewicz, this course invites you to delve into the rich world of iconography, offering a unique opportunity to integrate the practice of icon painting into your weekly routine. Unleash your creativity and explore a more personal and spiritual approach to painting icons, unlocking the potential for self-expression.
Â
What you will learn?
In this course, you will learn and explore a more creative approach to icon painting. You will work on an icon of an Angel, a symbol embracing wholeness and significance tailored to your own journey. You can choose to depict this celestial being as an Archangel Michael or keep it more open as an Angel. Whichever one holds the most meaning to you. The canvas is yours to embrace, complete with the option to inscribe your icon or leave it open-ended, allowing for a truly personalised icon.
Â
Throughout the course, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of egg tempera and the Russian method, which involves delicately layering paint to achieve delicate tones and shading. Master the interplay of light to sculpt shapes, refine your skills in colour mixing, and cultivate an eye for selecting the perfect colour palette. Dive into the world of texture and colour experimentation, guiding you toward discovering your unique artistic style. Or follow the brush strokes of your teacher Basia and don’t worry about the rest.
Â
As an intermediate student, you’ll deepen your understanding of facial and hand structures while embarking on a spiritual journey, fostering a profound connection with your craft. Witness the stages of creation as Basia Mindewicz expertly guides you through each step, offering a window into her artistic process and inspiring exercises for you to practice independently. Basia will be painting the icon on a camera and you will be able to see every step of the process and rewatch it later in the recording that you will have access to during the running of the course.
Â
Seize this opportunity to blend creativity and spirituality, transcending the canvas to create art that resonates with the depths of your soul. Join us on a voyage of self-discovery and artistic mastery, where every brushstroke becomes a step towards a more profound connection with your craft and your inner self.
