These are perfect workshops for those who would like to try icon writing and learn more about techniques that we use.

Series of workshops focusing on our relationship with nature and more particularly with animals. You can book one workshop by choosing an option in the checkout. Let us know if you would like to book all of these.

We will be working with icons of saints that have a special relationship with animals. After this, we will have one workshop where you will be invited to create an icon of an animal. You will be welcome to use one of Basia’s icons as a template or inspiration.

During this short workshop we will:

– reflect and talk about the wisdom of the saints and talk about their special relationship with animals

– use a process of writing an icon – image that will reflect this using imagery, not words

– the purpose of these workshops is not necessarily to learn the technique and complete the image. It is to spend time in the process. We will of course do our best to finish our icons

Materials you will need for writing of an icon of Mother Julian

  • gesso board, claybord or thick paper. We recommend size 8/8 inch – for claybord and about 20/16 cm for other panels. However you are welcome to use a size of panel that you have. Here is where you can order claybords
